DANCER PROFILE

AUDITION WORKSHOPS

Tuesday, May 25 Wednesday, May 26     6:30 – 8:30 PM     

South Campus Upper Gym (Enter through Door D)

 

​Who: Current 8th -11th graders who will be attending Arrowhead during the 21-22 school year.

What to expect: Dancers will learn a pom and jazz routine and practice technical elements in preparation for final auditions.  The workshops will be led by the coaches and alumni who will NOT be judges at the final auditions.  Coaches and alumni are there to help dancers prepare for finals auditions and answer any questions auditionees may have

What to Wear: Dance/jazz shoes, all BLACK non-revealing/restrictive dance attire. (leggings, dance/athletic shorts, tank tops and form fitting t-shirts)

 

 

What to Bring: Water Bottle, three forms: Dancer Profile, Dancer/Parent Contract, Calendar (filled-in with commitments, vacations, etc.)

FINAL AUDITIONS

THURSDAY, MAY 27    6:30    

South Campus Upper Gym (Enter through Door D)

 

What to Wear: Jazz shoes, all black dance attire, performance make-up/hair. Physical appearance is not judged, but presentation will be.

 

Procedure: Dancers will perform pom/jazz routine and technical skills in small groups/pairs in front of a panel of judges.  Auditions may be videotaped by the coaching staff for staff use ONLY. Dancers are expected to stay at school until they’re excused (no later than 9:00 PM).

 

Judging Criteria

  • Appearance: Neatly and appropriately dressed

  •  Poise: Confidence and professionalism.

  • Memory: Knowledge of routines

  •  Precision & Form: proper placement, strength, control, extension

  • Dance Technique: Technical ability and execution

  • Performance: Timing, rhythm, body awareness and overall impression

  •  Showmanship: Eye contact, projection, smile & body energy

Results - The team roster will be posted on team website and Instagram pages on or before FRIDAY, MAY 28
